Could you guys post a recommended fat supplement schedule? I'm male, 23, 150 pounds, about 13-14% bodyfat. I do the crossfit workouts and about 6-8 hours of yoga a week. I'm probably averaging something like 3000 to 4000 calories a day. I currently eat a modified zone diet, with lots of olive oil added.

I'm looking to take either fish or flax oil. What are some of the main reasons people do this? Any links to stuff I can read would be appreciated. Any questions? Ask away.

Ryan-
Go for fish oil. Read through the nutrition arcives for a load of details regarding both options.

See thread on this page regarding Flaxseed oil. I also use 1g borage oil and 5-10g fish oil per day. GLA is controversial, but as per previous thread on GLA, I suspect I may have a hereditary deficiency for producing my own. Too much ALA is a possibility with using flax as it can supress GLA formation, but I supplement this anyway.

Okay, I've read through the archives. Could someone recommend a dose to me? I eat about 5 meals a day currently. Something like 'take 15 Xmg capsules, 5 times a day with meals.

And I'm going to try to buy pg caps, so they don't have the vitamin a and d included.

Here's what I bought:

Organika Wild Harvested Pacific Salmon Oil

200 X 1000mg caps

Each cap contains: 1000mg Pure Salmon, Marine Oil
EPA 186mg
DHA 111mg
Total omega 3-fatty acids 297mg

Suggested used: 1-2 caps after each meal, 3 times a day.

I paid: 13.39 USD before taxes.

Good deal? Bad deal? How's the quality of the caps? How many should I be taking?

Why would I want to do that? I've never tasted any sort of fish oil other than cod liver, so I can't really make any conclusions from it.

I agree with Rob, fish oil for sure! Kirkland Signature from Costco is the best value. Some fish oils may have a higher concentration/volume but Kirkland has the best price point. I did a lot of research on this on my own and came up with Kirkland as the winner.

As for dosage I can't help there I take 20 caps a day but I am 38 and have RA so the fish oil really helps.

Carlson's liquid fish oil, lemon flavor, is a nice clean way to take fish oil. I do two teaspoons a day, morning and night.
Supplement Facts - Serving size: 1 tsp
Amount per tsp % D.V
Omega 3 Fatty Acids (from fish oil) 1600 mg *
Antioxidant blend 14 mg *
DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) 500 mg *
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) 800 mg *
DPA, ALA and Moroctic Acid (Omega 3 fatty acids) 300 mg *
15 mg cholesterol per tsp

Tastes deacent too.
