Instead of the WOD, today I tried KB squatthrust DL with 2x32's. Excution is simple, grab two KBs, do a squatthrust, pushup, then hop back up an do a D.L. Repeat. I did 100 reps, what a good time.

BTW I got this combo off of a Steve Maxwell article in the most recent Dragondoors mag, Hardstyle.

There was a WOD some time ago (the fog of pain...) that had DB burpees combined with a clean (or was it a thruster?) of the DBs.

That is, hold 2 DBs, squat down to put them on the floor, shoot your legs back into the squat-thrust, do a pushup (holding the DBs on the ground as if they were parallettes), shoot your legs back into a squat, now squat clean the DBs, and finish with a jump or thruster up (while thrusting the DBs overhead). Do this as a continuous sequence, as they each flow naturally into one another.

Repeat for reps.

BRUTAL.

Yeah i remember that beauty........think it had pull ups as its training buddy too!

Remember thinking of the pull ups as a rest......that's right folks, it was hard!

I remember the weighted burpee/thruster using two 35# dbs plus pullups as the hardest WOD I've done yet. Tabata 72# kb swings rank right up there too (I can't wait to try it with the 88# bell!), but at least that agony is done in four minutes....

Steve Maxwell has a lot of WOD-looking workouts that really kick the crap out of you very quickly.

I've searched through his posts alone on Dragondoor.com (using the Forum Search function), and have found a LOT of great info on good physical training. And some pretty cool workout ideas, too.

It was also the hardest that I've ever done. The "dumbbell burpee hang squat clean thruster" had such a bizarre effect that I felt strong doing my third, and by the fourth could barely breathe. I also remember the pull ups as a rest. This workout was a turning point for me--after finishing it, I've never feared getting to the end of a WOD.

Yup; there were many comments that day, mine included, that referred to the pullups as "active rest".

Fun times...
