Okay guys, today I tried out the first of the 5 crossfit tests, namely bench max followed by pullups. I haven't benched in over 6 months so didn't expect much over 125-130kg. Low and behold I put up 150kg (330lbs) with a little to spare and followed it with 8 chins (I then went on to do the 5k run WOD).
Now I know the chin total is quite poor (but it's improving), but how, on a fairly low calorie paleo type diet, with no benching, is my benching strength so good. As I mentioned my pullups are improving as is my running, I also feel much lighter on my feet.
Can anyone explain this in laymans terms?

In all seriousness, I used to lift a lot and was always weak on the bench. I never did more than about 250. After being on CrossFit, my best is now around 340. It is amazing.

Congratulations. You are now hooked!
