Quick question for Gymnasts?

Are official gymnastic rings made from wood and/or steel? The reason I ask is becuase I have found "official rings" on the web made of wood and also "roman gymnastic rings" made of basically a hollow steel tube? Can it be either depending on what your using them for?

Re: Quick question for Gymnasts?

Rings are typically a laminated wood with some sort of filament or something that goes through the middle of the ring in case it fails. Roger will probably chime in on this.

Roman gymnastics rings? Perhaps they were just hollow steel tubes in those days. Rings also used to be triangular in shape too.

They are also very commonly made of lexan (polycarbonate resin)
