What's the deal with carrots?

I'm hearing there's some sort of negative effect with carrots and they should be avoided. I can't remember what was said but is there any truth to it. It had something to do with carb. Is it acceptable in Paleo world.

People drown every year in it, I would avoid it at all cost. Far fewer people drown in bourbon thus it is safer.

Back in university, I used to drown in bourbon quite regularly. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

If you were following a Keto diet and were trying to keep your carb count to 50g and under then yes, avoid carrots as they are higher in carbs.
