Eat Right For Your Type?

A coworker of mine was given a book by his wife called "Eat Right For Your Type." It is about how different blood types require different foods. Some blood types benefit from vegetarian diets while others need meat in their diet.

Im a solid Zoner so my question is not about whether or not I should change diets but more about the curiosity. Have you heard about this diet? What do you think about the methodology etc?

Thanks,

Nick

Re: Eat Right For Your Type?

im no expert and im sure the big brains will give you better answers.
but my understanding of the blood type diets are that the different blood types developed at different times in human history. thus if you have a newer blood type you may handle newer food sources. while if you have an older one the vegetarian or paleo may work better.

kinda like the "northern europeans handle dairy better because they have had had it in their diets longer" thing.

sounds sorta plausible to me but my info is second hand and may be totally off... wouldnt be the first time.

x2.

Typical snake oil stuff. Paul Chek uses the whole Metabolic Typing thing, but I don't take it seriously. He often quotes Joseph Mercola, who I think is a quack among quacks.

You don't mean the same kind of rubbish that promotes a "Magial" ratio of macros, do you?

Before all you crazy Zoner attack I'm only joking.

That's the book gave Dr Mecola diabetes many years back because it told him he was a carb type.

Re: Eat Right For Your Type?

Anecdotally, it doesn't work at all. I have the exact same blood type as my husband and we thrive on very different carb-protein ratios.

Re: Eat Right For Your Type?

There is truth to the fact that some foods work better some people. I think it's dicated by lifestyle and figuring out WHAT WORKS FOR YOU! Some people don't do dairy while I thrive on the stuff and lots of it. I also eat massive amounts of carbs in the form of grains because I am an endurance athlete. I don't need all the carbs during the off-season but trying to race on a low carb diet is like trying to pull a tractor trailor with a Prius. It does not happen.
