Why are C2 rowers prized so much?

Also is the issue of transferability. The C2 is the standard. The times and measurements are equivalent on any machine(maybe not an old A or older model B). 300# is 300#, and 1:30/500 is 1:30/500. They also give you great data to use, are infinately programmable, compact, somewhat portable, last forever, etc.

If you sub a 500m on another rower, or 50 pulls on another rower, you could be doing a small fraction of the work as on a C2. It would be like picking up an unlabeled dumbbell/kettlebell for lifting. Yeah you could get a good workout with it, but there is no way to compare what you did to what others did.

Do some homework on past posts, as in "search".
C2's have been discussed, month in, month out and the thread never changes. Buy the best, as there really isn't an alternative. Even if there was a competitor, no body supports Rowing or CF like C2. Call them, email them, go visit them, whatever, just buy one, even if you have to borrow the money.

Again, just my 2 cents, but hey, I've had the B and now have the D.

They seem to be priced pretty cheap to me, considering what you get.

A piece of equipment that:

The entire CF community raves about.

Gives you a great full-body workout.

Needs little or no maintenance for years, even under commercial-use loads

Is easy and inexpensive to repair even when you do wear it out.

Retains its resale value. You pay $850 for a new model D today, you'll get $800 for it next year. Find me another piece of fitness gear that you can say that about, with the exception of bumper plates maybe.

Also, did you know that Concept 2 will send you instructional DVDs for free, for you to give out to your clients/members? If you have 30 clients, they'll send you 30 dvds free so you can give them out. Nice!

We are buying one or two Model Ds next month for the new CF facility we're opening. Since I can't seem to snag any used, we'll be buying new.

I've seen the Model E but I don't see any reason to spend the extra money just to sit higher off the ground. Anyone who knows why I should, please tell me. I'd hate to miss out on something really good.

One of the best companies I've ever dealt with. After I found my used one, they helped me get the parts I needed and even sent me a VHS tape on the product, magazine, manuals, etc.

Can't say enough good things about C2. Bought a model D from the factory with considerable misgivings, now a year later, no regrets. If you have any regrets, you can resell it on Ebay for retail (or better I hear). Bomb-proof, field repairable, simple, best in class, great value, ethical company, found everywhere, etc...

To hammer Manuel's point home even further - to this day they still sell replacement parts to models that they discontinued during the Reagan administration.
