Powerbar

Need some help! I've read a billion of these threads and have yet to make up my mind....I'm in a toss up between the Texas power bar (eBay w/ tax and shipping just under $300) the Westside Econ ($330ish w/ shipping) and Regular Westside ($390ish w/ shipping) bar by Rogue.......have any of you just been blown away by the WSB? Is the snap ring worth the extra cash?? I have an operator bar by Rogue and love it but I want some more aggressive knurl for the presses and Dead lifts. TPB or WSB; is the extra $90 worth it?

Re: Powerbar

Also, I believe the TPB is is 28.5 diameter vs the WSBs 29....should this matter when picking a powerlifting bar? I'm leaning towards the 29 just to have something different but am not sure if that will really make much of a difference

Re: Powerbar

i have the TPB and i love it!!
(sidenote) ive had some real crappy bench bars of which 1 i got rid of and the second i turned it into a safety squat bar
i also have the rogue bar. the rogue bar is cool if you really do crossfit and olympic lifts which i dont do.
i love the aggressive knurling of the TPB and that bar will not fall off your back or out of your hands.

i also belong to a gym and they have olympic and powerlifting bars by Ivanko (each are $660) and i like my TPB better than the Ivankos at my gym.
the knurling on the Ivankos are okay but not as sharp at the TPB.

Re: Powerbar

I like the rough knurling and 29mm on the westside. The more aggressive the better for a power bar IMO.

Re: Powerbar

bodybuilding.com forums has some reviews of those bars but mostly for the TPB.
I own a TPB and I love it. Beautiful bar with aggressive knurling for a good price.
That being said, I'm still curious about the Westside and Rogue Powerbar. Couple positive reviews on the Rogue Powerbar floating around.

Re: Powerbar

It seems as the rogue powerbar is nothing more than the regular rogue bar with the addition of a center knurl. If only I could physically see them and use them for a day, then my life would be easier haha

Re: Powerbar

go with the TPB. if the TPB is good enough for the guys lifting 700-1200 lbs i think its good enough for all of us.
especially me since my best lift is the deadlift at 450.

A brief review/overview of the TPB: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ey7vOlMXy_Q (WFS)

Sleeves spin well enough for some Oly lifting too in my opinion, but that knurl is gonna be hell on your neck.

Re: Powerbar

I have an old Texas Power Bar and just got the Westside Power Bar from Rogue.

The Texas Power Bar has held up well over 10 years and is in my squat rack.

I got the Westside Bar for my bench because the sleeves came off my old cheap bar in the bench. It is a comparable bar to the TPB. Very strong knurling, really locks into your hand.

Both appear to be great bars functionally so it might come down to cost and cosmetics if I could only have one.

Re: Powerbar

Thanks for the insight; Robert, do you notice a difference between the diameters or prefer one over the other? Also, if you are interested in selling the TPB I'd be interested in buying haha
