Benefits of a Safety Squat Bar

This may be a dumb question, so forgive me, and if this has been covered before, I did search both on here and google and wasn't able to find any definitive answers to help me out. But what/is there a benefit to doing squat workouts with a safety bar as opposed to an oly bar if you're trying to increase your squat? My max is currently 265 which I'm not very happy with but can't seem to find a way to work up to and exceed this. I'm squatting at 2x per week at least and my sleep/nutrition is where it should be to support this work.(7-8 hours, ~3500 calories, lots of protein and fat). Thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Re: Benefits of a Safety Squat Bar

I feel the safety squat bar blends the effects of the back squat and front squat. It's easier on your hands and shoulders.

It also makes you stay upright when squatting which I think then prevents doing a half-squat/good morning movement on the regular back squat when you get into the heavier weights.

I feel I can go a little deeper with the safety squat and it might be a little more quad dominant too.

What is your current program for trying to get your squat numbers up?

Re: Benefits of a Safety Squat Bar

If you have a shoulder injury that prevents you from externally rotating your shoulders, it can be a great substitute.
