Hi I am new and have 2 ruptured disks from 7 years ago. What is the safest ab exercise that I can do to strengthen my core? Are situps ok to do? I was under the impression that situps are hard on the back.... Any insight and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you considered physio-ball ab stuff? Like the reverse leg crunches? There you lift the weight of your legs (and the ball) instead of your torso/head/arms? I cannot say if that is appropriate with this sort of condition, just something to consider/research. Best of Luck.

You may also want to implement the CrossFit warm-up in your workout if it does not aggravate your back. These exercises will help strengthen your core. (OH Squats, push-ups, pull-ups etc.)Most functional bodyweight exercises execute the abs.

Yeah, 3 x { 3 min{ x { front ,side, side }} eq abs pain
I did have big problems with my back/spine so I know a bit about excercises that are safer for ones low back area :o) (Message edited by pruzicka on February 17, 2006) |
