Exclamation Amigos - What if I hadn't found Crossfit?

Guys... what can I say but I'm sorry I've been gone so long.

In 2007 I was seriously ill. Crossfit community not just helped but held my hand me through it.

This got me thinking. I am where I am because of you guys.

My favourite 2 threads are - what are you guys reading and nutrition.

I have grown. I have matured. I have developed into who I am because of this community. I could name names but I will save that.

We are all very similar in our philosophy of life. I ave read all the must read books and more. I feel privileged to be in the minority. I feel sorry for the masses, knowing what I know. I used to preach but I now realise it's not really worth the effort.

For all Crossfit's flaws (you know what they are) I can't say I have ever found a more helpful community. This has inspired me to write the following.

What if I hadn't found Crossfit? (and this is at random)

I would never have found War Peace
I would never have read Michael Polin
I would still be eating McDonalds
I would think fat is bad
I would be bodybuilding
I would still be wearing Asics shoes wit lots of support
I wouldn't know about POSE
I wouldn't drink olive oil
I wouldn't appreciate the outdooors
Vibram 5 s
Kettle Bells
Random lifting of random things
Running free
Riding my bike for miles
I wouldn't have got through having a stroke and coming out the other side better than when I suffered it
You guys know who you are. You helped me though it.
Jay Cohen
Bacon
Meat muffins
Paleo Cookies
Olympic Lifts
Kefir - I drink it every day
Goose and duck fat
Sweet Potatoes
Skipping Ropes
Rosstraining
Pullups
Nike Frees
Literature
I remember once I said I was going to be in New York and got invited to train with a group of guys randomly on the board
UFC - I always loved it and it's loved here
Green leafy veggies
Coconut oil
Making my own nut butters
Not giving a **** about what you wear in the gym
Lifting shoes
Zone diet? No but Paleo yes. To a degree
Not preaching about food but just live and let live
Gomad
Starting Strength
Gymnastics
Coach Sumner
Recipes
Loving and really appreciating the outdoors - really this is HUGE

Jees - I got advice on feeding my baby!

There's a whole lot more. I'm just brainstorming.

You guys changed my life. Gave me a reason to live. Gave me a code. Made me well. Gave me inspiration and something to aspire to. Community - that's what it is.

For that I love you.

I want back into the fold.

I'm sorry I've been away for so long. 2 kids in 18 months have distracted me!

If you are new here fall in. I hope this is the same place it was when I stopped coming here. I hope the same guys are here. I'm back in spirit and in soul.

Geez...THAT was a great post Jaime! Welcome back and congrats on the new babies. I offered up some thoughts on just that on the Main Page this morning in Sunday musings.

Re: Amigos - What if I hadn't found Crossfit?

If I hadn't found crossfit:

- I'd have $1,150 more in my checking account
- I'd still have two functioning shoulders
- I'd still be able to squat 395 x 3
- I'd never have been talked into the "Zone" and lost around 10lbs of hard earned muscle.
- I'd have never been told by a trainer that "bench press is lame, it's non-functional."
- I'd have never learned that a snatch is actually a row and a shoulder press.
- I'd have never found such great looking "ladies" in the gym that know more about steroids than I do.

Let's see then. You:
  1. can't control your spending
  2. can't keep yourself healthy
  3. can't ensure that your programming meets your goals
  4. can't educate yourself on what it is that you're doing
  5. can't make a decision on your own, and
  6. can't find the right gym with the right people.

Not for nothing, but this thread isn't about what you think of me. It's about "What if I hadn't found crossfit."

Although, I expect nothing less from you - you're still a coppertop.

What's YOUR Fran time?

I'm guessing he is referring to the term as used in the Matrix. In this case he probably means people still plugged into CF. Christopher can correct me if I am wrong.
