I think this dad gives a whole new meaning to the word 'fitness' and has a very unselfish reason to train. http://www.teamhoyt.com/

I saw them a few months ago on Either ESPN, or 60 minutes(some sort of interview show) and I am man enough to admit I was almost in tears.
I hope even in some small way I can be as good a person as they are.

The Hoyt's have been at it for along time. Remember seeing them on the IM coverage from about 89.

I work in the developmental disabilities field and its my goal to bring proper fitness, exercise, and nutrition to a population woefully underserved by the fitness community and dealing in severly antiquated research in the nutrition field. This is great info and a great story

I read about Team Hoyt several years ago in a book called Becoming an Ironman. What an inspiring story!

Another good inspiration is Bobby McMullen. He is an athlete that competes in Xterra off-road triathlons as well as downhill mountain biking. He is legally blind. He rides and races with a guide. I saw these guys in action in an Xterra I did in Sacramento and again in Temecula. It is absolutely amazing to see the interaction between him and his guide. Talk about teamwork!

It's always great to see people that truly do not let anything limit their potential.

Justin - The martial arts school that I teach for has a special needs class for students with developmental disabilities. They are a very hard working group of students. I agree with you about that being an underserved part of the fitness community. That's great that you do what you do.
