Re: Heard in the Office Today

Scott you and I may be the same person. After I turned 21 last year I've been trying all the different beers I can from different breweries (HEB has an awesome selection to start on, and for the record I do not drink the usual horse **** other college goers do- keystone, naty ice, 40s, bud anything, etc) under the assumption euro beer is just better. But I've definitely enjoyed the American micro brews the best. I think most of the imports we get are no different than our domestics.. Just manufactured and mass distribution.

Back to at the office...

Query about my diet from woman in unit next to mine:

"Who IS this Dr. Paleo guy? Is he like Dr. Atkins or something?"

I just wish we could get any Stone product in Calgary.

A couple of years ago, I was in SD on vacation, and dragged my wife into the Stone Brewery to pick up a batch of Ruination. After the flight home, the customs agent questioned why I was bringing beer back across the border. She understood when I told her it was a micro.

Re: Heard in the Office Today

My coworker offers me a brownie. I politely decline. Exact quotes:

Him: "Your willpower is so weird."

Me: "What's weird about it?"

Him: "That you have it."

Kind of sad, but...

That really is tragic. Do you guys at least get some of the Pacific Northwest micros? Bridgeport, maybe? Some of my favorite beers come from that area.

Essentially the only redeeming feature of Texas is the beer supply at HEB. I'd never seen Victory Prima Pils (aka the greatest lager in human history) in a supermarket until I got here.

Though, admittedly, all those brands are a bit diluted (or gone) at this point.

Apart from Lotus, which is still churning out fantastic stuff.

"Yes. His name is Paleo. Paleo Lithic."

"Like cave men and stuff?"

"Exactly..."

Good man. Not long ago my coach (who is also a gearhead) and I were trying to sort out our perfect 5 car garage. Mine is:

2007 Impreza STi (hey, I have to have something to drive every day, right? )
Lotus Exige (black, of course)
Alfa Romeo 8C (the most preposterously gorgeous car, ever)
Ferrari 599 (not everyone's favorite, but I like the engineering of it)
Bugatti Veyron (I know, but I have to have one)

If I get to make it a 10 car, then I'd add:
Caterham R500 (corners, corners, corners)
Aston Martin One-77 (eat your heart out, Commander Bond)
Bentley Brooklands (it's like a turbocharged lounge)
Jaguar E-Type (one of the refurbished jobs with modern innards)
Honda Clarity (yeah, I know... but hydrogen's cool)
