Best ways to butter the wife/husband up

Ok guys and gals I thought this might be a good source for a laugh or a new trick to get that new C2, rack or any other item into that beloved garage. With all of the experiences everyone has when going to get approval from the significant other to continue building on.

Here is mine more funny than helpful I thought wife didn't like it though.

So my wife had mentioned that I needed a new belt because I had tossed out all the ones that I no longer liked and had one left. I really don't dress up so this is my go to belt for everything and the wife isn't the biggest fan since it's old and worn. Anyways I mentioned I was looking at belts. I actually was on rogues website looking at dip belt. I said "if I find a belt I like can I go ahead and order it?" She said yes! So a week later she noticed a belt hanging from the R4 and said that isn't a belt you need a belt for going places. I laughed and said I had one already I just needed this for working out.

Please add to I assume their are great stories out their.

Mine went like this:

"Sweetheart, I know you want those knew Virginia Tech high heels...you can have them if I can buy the Skins I want."

Cost me twice as much but I'm pretty sure I could have inserted "buy new beach home" after "you should get those shoes" and she would have consented.

That is a good one.

I am working on a new one. Yesterday the wife informed me she thinks she needs a hot tub. I put the offer on the table for a airdyne and another piece of equipment at a later date. Still in the works though hope it works out.

Re: Best ways to butter the wife/husband up

I have a three step approach to this issue

1) Just take it to the limit once and forever more life is easier. I bought a motorbike, now everything else that I want to buy (that is not a motorbike) seems quite reasonable and meets with little objection

2) That and the fact that my beloved wife has realized that I'm so tenacious and determined that once I get an idea in my head, resistance is futile. I'll just wheedle and pester and negotiate until I get what I want.

3) Don't be selfish, why shouldn't she have the things she likes. Just because they might be things I'm not into, she's not into motorbikes but I have one. Be fair.

One perk of being single, I get what ever I want, provided I have the funds.

Today I bought a full suspension Mt bike. I didn't ask anyone.

why would someone need to "butter up" their spouse to purchase something? that is silly. a man needing to ask his wife permission to make a purchase is hillarious.

Re: Best ways to butter the wife/husband up

I've justified my gym with: "Do you know how much a decent gym membership would be costing us, at least $50 a month..." that's $600 a year in my book that the garage gym is ENTITLED TO!!!

I'm normally a cheapo so this is how I justify it to myself too, my wife is very supportive and is usually telling me "why do you wait $50 at a time, just get it already..."

Can't complain, hope it helps someone else...

Not being married this is just my speculation, but I assume most families would have a budget that they stick by, including putting away savings. I can see where luxury purchases would be discussed between spouses.

But again, I don't have this situation.
