So the wod today was 7 sets of 1 rep dead lifts. I've never done any exercises with sets of 1 rep. This doesn't seem like a very hard workout. Not really like a crossfit work out. I would just like if someone could explain to me what the purpose of this workout is. Thanks.

Luke,

This is a max effort day designed to have you work up to your 1 rep max for the deadlift. If you work up to your max, it is taxing. Remember that the Crossfit workouts are either the metcons or efforts of 1, 3 or 5 reps on a compound movement. No, the max efforts don't leave you gasping for breath, but the cns effect is there. David.

Luke;
Forget Google, search the CF message boards, read the FAQ, repeat, day in day day out and do the WOD.
Jay
PS. While some research the heck out of the CF methodology, others just do it. Your call.
Jay
PPS If you don't dial in your nutrition program, your progressive and results will be hampered. So search for Zone and Paleo eating habits.
Good luck, maybe I'll see ya at a Cert.

Luke,

Try using the message board search function. Tons of useful information. To answer your question, check out:

metcon: http://www.crossfit.com/discus/messages/21/37838.html

cns: http://www.crossfit.com/discus/messages/21/13892.html

Hope that helps.
