Casey's road to CrossFit Games 2009!

So I decided yesterday that my new goal is to qualify for the Crossfit Games 2009. I have been seriously xfitting for a month and I have a long way to go, but I think I can do it. Plus I can have a lot of fun getting there.

I dont know if anyone is gonna read this workout log, but if you do, feel free to give me any advice or crossfit wisdom. I love this community and I think the forums are a great place to learn.

Tabata Mash Up

-Pull ups
-Box Jumps
-KB Swings (1.5 pood)
-Sprints (~10 m)

Final Score= 6/15/8/4

I probably could have gotten an 8 on pullups but I slipped off the bar and that took up time. This was my first Tabata.

I decided to develop my handstands. I cant do hspu's and I need to master handstands. I guess I can incorporate them into my warmup. Im not sure how to focus on improving one certain thing, doing it in my warmup is the only thing I can think of.

21-15-9

- Deadlift (225#)
- Burpees

Time= 7: 41

My trainers are trying to get me stronger. I have never done that much on deadlifts EVER! It was really heavy, but it felt good to know that I could lift that much.

Casey-

Good time! I've done that WOD!

If you want to gauge yourself against what the folks at the 2008 Games, try the following:

5 Rounds for time of:
5 dead lifts at 275#
10 Burpees

it was pretty brutal - I did not attend the Games, but a few of us at my Affiliate did this WOD just to see how we'd measure up...

Some of the times people scored on that workout just blow my mind.

Barbara

20 pull ups
30 push ups
40 sit ups
50 squats

5 rounds for time
Time= 24:21

This was my first attempt at Barbara. It was Freaking hard! I was in a group with 3 other guys, and they helped push me along . The sit ups were the toughest part. I got my PR on pull-ups (20) twice. I have never felt so sick after a workout before. I had to lie down for like 10 min, because anytime I got up I wanted to puke.

10-06-08

135# Deadlift- 15
135# Hang PC- 12
135# Front squat- 9
135# Push Jerk- 6

5 rounds for time (20 min cap)

3 rounds & 8 HPC

This sucked. My biggest problem was my grip. I couldnt clean very well because the bar kept slipping. I also had never done jerks before, so that was interesting. I definitely identified my weakness, My Grip. This workout was a struggle the whole time.

10-8-08

5 Rounds Max rep of:

Overhead squats (65#)
Push ups

Rest as needed between rounds.

20/30, 20/30, 18/25, 17/25, 19/20

I had never done OHS before, so I went kinda lite. I need to work on my form. My wrists hurt doing this, but I guess that will go away in time.

50m Farmerís Carry
10 Tire Flips
20 Burpees

25m Farmerís Carry
5 Tire Flips

This was a fun workout (except for the burpees). I had never done Tire Flips and I really liked them.
