paleo zone breakfast

My husband and I are on board for doing the 2 week paleo zone challenge. My big problem is breakfast. I started eating paleo back in November, and quickly added IF into the mix as I couldn't deal with breakfast.

The CFJ 21 has some good ideas, but they're not paleo. I don't want to have eggs every breakfast, and I don't know that I can afford for the 2 of us to eat meat at every single meal every day.

My calculations put me at 11 blocks, and probably bumping up the fat quickly. Could I "semi" IF, having a 2 block snack mid morning and 1 block in the afternoon, and two 4 block meals (lunch and supper?). Or am I whining too much?!?

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

I get sick of eggs too. If you're really doing paleo zone, there is no way to get around having meat for breakfast unless you eat eggs.

Try to plan out dinners so you have left-overs, then have that for breakfast w/ a piece of fruit. I will often make a london broil or chicken breasts for dinner (even burgers). Cook an extra piece or two and there you go.

Re: paleo zone breakfast

Amy,

I would say just IF it for awhile and see how it goes. If your last meal is around 7 and your mid morning snack is around 10, then in addition to eating zone-paleo, you would be fasting for 15 hours a day which is what most IFers do anyway.

Zone-paleo-IF: That's a pretty awesome combination if you can pull it off!

You could always take out 1 egg and add in a bit of turkey/ham and some cheese and make an omlette. A few vegetables too.. If your stuck with eggs, may as well make them interesting!

You can use canned salmon or a good quality tuna or sardines too!

There is always turkey bacon and turkey sausage. They don't crisp up like pork bacon but it taste just as good. Sometimes you have to be creative with the eggs. There is always hardboiled eggs, omlettes, or throw in some other form of meat. I hope that helps.

See this issue of Mark's Daily Apple, more Paleo then Zone, but then again, real people eat food, not blocks.

Highly recommend the applesauce.

Had some this morning. I guess technically not paleo because of the protein powder, but I could care less.

Re: paleo zone breakfast

I had pulled chicken for breakfast. Chicken is cheap and easy, just make a truckload of it in the slow cooker, and you are set for several days. Yum.
