I've recently started IF and I have been depending on gum and mints (breathsavers to be exact, which are amazing) to keep myself going. The only problem with this is both contain either sugar, aka the devil, or an artificial sweetener. I'm wondering if there's anything around that i can chew on to relive boredom that has no real nutritional value. Rubber maybe?

Bark?

Coca leaves? That should help with the boredome. And any hunger pangs.

I find that once you begin to chew on something, you automatically gets hungry. If you can overcome the first hunger, which usually lasts nothing more than 5 minutes, you'll be fine. If you need something to chew on, I'll recommend liqurice root ... or kissing on someone or something.

I've seen natural gum, "Glee Gum" I believe is the name, but that contains sugar. Is there any way one could get unflavored natural gum?

Haha, I think a diagnosis of pica is a little harsh. Perhaps the only cure is to tough it out...although coca leaves might give me the extra boost I need to get through the final hours of my fasts.
