Everyone's comments are fair. I have a jaded outlook. I teach school in a Correctional Facility for Youth Offenders. Predatory behavior is the rule, 1 jumps all go if peer needs help. As a 20yr Pro party animal I have seen more than my share of barfights. The bikers I knew then were big on group violence. I have to agree, I wouldn't want to fight anyone who knows how to fight. As an old College Wrestler I would love to take it to the ground for a good stretch and pound. But that won't happen!
Last fight I saw was at the local park. I couldn't tell who was involved or the cause.
When they went to the ground, the spectators started stomping. Lucky for the kid on the bottom, they got in each others way. So I guess we are discussing the difference between a drunken bar fight/brawl and someone trying to do GBI. GBI is what they specialised in 900 yrs ago.
Predators pick the time and place.
You didn't think they were going to start something surrounded by your friends did you? lol

PSS What do we do after they tap/surrender?

So, back to the original topic of this thread.....did anyone catch the second episode of "Warrior Nation" last night? I did and really enjoyed it. It was very well done. Erin Toughill has a very impressive standup, you can tell she has a boxing background.

Wow, this really got steered off course didn’t it Jeff. :yikes:

Anyway, I did not see the entire 2nd episode, I recorded it though to watch later, but I did catch the last fight which featured Erin Toughill. I liked how her opponent was in denial as she was trying to acknowledge why she felt that the crowd was booing the match. She felt that it was due to Erin’s “not-so-pleasant” disposition. When in reality she gave up by way of a verbal commit which gave the match to Erin. This ticked off the crowd because the match ended without any sign of tapping out, so only the referee and Erin heard the actual verbal response. I forgot Erin's opponent's name. Did they even show it on the screen? The coverage was pretty sporatic and fast at times, IMO.
I also have to really applaud Erin’s husband for coming up in the ring and basically telling the entire arena to shove it. You gotta love that.

My hat is off to the Toughills.:biggrinthumb:

Hmmm, I looked up the Bujinkan art on youtube, and it just looked like the silly stuff that the UFC showed was ineffectual in the very beginning. The kind of stuff that doesn't really work on resisting opponents.

Rick,

I don't know where they got the "not-so-pleasant" thing from. Maybe because Erin didn't shake hands with her opponent. I say Erin has some bragging rights and she can talk whatever smack she wants to because she seems to be able to back it up. And yeah, kudos to her husband. I've heard of Erin before but I'm a fan now. She's tough!!!!

Must…resist....must....not…get…involved…again…gasp ….cough….!!!
OK, here we go off topic again so hang on boys and girls::yikes:

Neal, I’m not real familiar with Bujinkan but could you explain at what point is it or MMA ineffectual? I know that in a real fight, everything turns to instinct more so than executing flawless form and rhythm but you cannot simply dismiss the training benefits. That would be like throwing out the baby with the bath water.
In other words...please expound!:g:

Hey it's cool! :msn-wink:

I make that mistake on occasion.

Did you happen to catch Erin's opponent's name last night. I must have missed it somehow.
