Starting For newcomers to the CrossFit methodology

I go to a preaty well equiped commercial gym. They have no Rope to climb, can I tie a rope to the top of the power rack, and start off lying down on the floor for trips?

Sure you can do that, but you may want to save money for when you get kicked out of that gym, so you can buy your own equipment. They will not like your idea, tell us how it goes..
