Reid Hurley CFCC Log

Finishing my 4th month of Crossfit and finally decided to start recording my workouts and tracking progress.

25 y.o.
5'8
185lbs

Back Squats
3x 155
3x 175
3x 205
3x 225
3x 245
3x 265
3x 285

WOD:

5 Rounds
7 Back Squats (1/2 Peak) used 145lb
7 Burpees

4:19

Wanted to go sub 4 but I started a little too quick to keep pace. Plus the weekend was a little more booze soaked than it should have been and I am sure that didn't help.

I've already surpassed my previous pr (255) by a decent amount for 3x and still felt like I had a lot left in the tank. I am shooting to top out around 325ish by the end of the month.

Dead hang pull-ups are easily the weakest movement for me. I did enjoy training in moccasins however.

WOD:

Ring dips
Strict Pull Ups

RX'd was 21(9)-15(15)-9(21)

Bummed I didn't do the RX workout but it probably would have been messy if I did. Failed like 6 times before the last ring dip and had to switch grips a bit to finish the strict pull ups. I do enjoy working on areas I suck at but its humbling to be really bad at these.

First rugby practice in 4 years tonight, hopefully I don't hurt myself.

No strength work today just metcon

"Tabata This"

8 rounds each 20 sec on/10 sec off.

10 second rest between exercises.

Row for kCal
Squats
Pull Ups
Push Ups
Sit Ups

341 Total Reps.

Could be worse but not pleased with anything but rowing. After a miserable time rowing during Battle at the Mill I feel like I have really paid attention to form and become much more efficient.

Going back to cfcc after dinner to try to get my first real muscle up.

Couldn't do broad jumps tonight to loosen up for deadlifts. Felt like my abs were going to rip with the hip extension after the first broad jump so I subbed squat jumps to try to loosen up my hips. I really need to pay attention to my core as I am pretty sure something is pulled.

Felt strong until the last two pulls, had to kind of swoop the last two up. Grip is starting to be a problem too above 335. Still think I will get to my goal of 400lb by the end of the month.

New movement, felt pretty awesome and I can see how it will definitely increase my dl numbers.

400 Double Unders - 4:18

Double unders felt pretty strong. Strung 35 together to start and then did sets of 15-25 through the end. Wearing vibrams whilst doing double unders is not ideal as I managed to bruise my toes pretty good from getting snapped by the rope.

Running a 5k with a couple buddies on Saturday so I think I'll skip the metcon tomorrow and just do strength work.

Med-Ball shot-put 5x3 each arm

No metcon today, just spent an extra 20 minutes with the beloved foam roller.

Putting in some mileage with the new vibrams over the past two weeks have really hurt my lower legs. Created an impromptu ice bath out of an office trash can and am icing down my calves below my desk. My partners think I am insane but my legs feel fantastic now.

5k tomorrow morning and honestly anything under 29-30 minutes would be very pleasing.

Finished the 5k in 27:05.

I am happy enough with the time. Definitely could have pushed a bit harder. The goal for the next one will be 25 minutes.

I did get out kicked by a man pushing a stroller, on a cell phone, in the last 200 meters or so. Another goal would be to have that never happen again.

Took an hour and a half break after the 5k run and went to CFCC for a 5k row. Did it in 20:34, focusing on form the whole time. Felt awesome. I have no benchmark for whether or not that is a decent time but I am pretty happy with it.
