Re: Possible Cross Fit Affiliate Names
Iron Monkey CrossFit? Dragon Ball CrossFit? Iron Man Crossfit? Tenage Mutant Ninja Turltle CrossFit?
Actually, Iron Works and Steel Works are the names of labrartories in DC comics used by a super hero named John Henry Irons aka Steel. You might even remember the movie that stared Shaq. No? You might want to stay away from those names. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Henry_Irons Legion is also the name of a super hero group http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L.E.G.I.O.N. as well as the Legion of Super Heroes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superma...f_Super-Heroes Yes. It was time to get my geek on. I would stay away from jazzy or even comic book sounding names. Go with something that fits your personality, style or location. |

Re: Possible Cross Fit Affiliate Names
My first thought when I read "Iron Legion" was that it sounded like a German Army Panzer group.
I don't think you can do better than your town or area name + CrossFit. I think the only reasons to go with a non location based CF name are because you either are planning on having multiple locations not in the same city or you have an existing business/ gym that your clients already know and you have invested lots of time and effort in promoting as a brand. Someone in your area who finds out about CF (say from the main site) will go to Google and type in CrossFit + the town name. If you're CrossFit 'wherever' it will come up. If you're not it is less likely to be in the top 10. |

Re: Possible Cross Fit Affiliate Names
Great feedback guys. I am still leaning towards CrossFit Kanata (Name of the City) or Spartan CrossFit.

As Ken mentioned, there was a Capital Crossfit that had an awesome start...it sounds like time became an issue for the owner (he had another job). I did my Level 1 in Santa Cruz with him. Good luck with the affiliate! We are moving/posted to Ottawa this fall. |

Jordan:
Before you pick your name, use the "phone test" Practice answering the phone with your gym's name... ie: "Hello, Crossfit Tanata, how can I help you?" That works, "Hello, Crossfit Iron Monkey, how can I help you?" ...not so much. Sort of the last test to see if a name works in "real life". |
