UFC 90 - Silva vs. Cote

I am generally a sucker for UFC fights, and I like to have friends over to watch them. So this weekend is UFC 90 and I am debating buying it... but I have a feeling how it is going to go, and I am not sure I want to drop $55 on it, and think I will just wait until it airs on UFC Unleashed in a few weeks. The undercard is moderately interesting -- especially whether Sean Sherk will come back with a victory after being so thoroughly dominated by BJ Penn.

Would I be a fool to let this one pass?

Re: UFC 90 - Silva vs. Cote

It should be good. I'm not excited about the price ever, but get some people to come over and pitch in $ and it all works out. This isn't a sweet card to me by any stretch...

Silva v Cote: I predict this will end quickly with Silva with his hands up. He has been a machine lately and I don't see Cote putting up anything that Silva can't handle. If you want to see a MMA clinic, this is the fight to watch.

Clementi vs Maynard: Clementi and Maynard have both been on a tear. This should be a good fight to watch.

Koscheck vs Alves: I was WAY more excited to see Diego Sanchez in this fight. Shame he dropped out. Koscheck makes me want to throw things at my TV.

Sherk vs Griffin: I think Sherk is kind of boring, but I'm excited to see this fight.

Fisher vs Gugerty: I don't know who Gugerty is at all, but Fisher is usually a fun fighter to watch.

Can we start having Silva fight three or four opponents at a time? One per limb?

He is amazing - he normally spends the first minute or two of the fight just checking out what his opponent is doing before he decides to go in for the kill, kind of like a cat playing with a mouse.

It's up to $55 now?? Hey Dana, there's a recession going on.

My direct tv box says $44.95. Maybe $55 is the HD option?

Anyway, I'm in the same boat. Several of my UFC buddies are out of town this weekend, and I'm thinking about skipping this card. It's not quite enticing enough to order and watch by myself. I tend to miss only 1 or 2 of these a year and this may be one of them. I don't give Cote much of a chance, but I would like to see Kos vs Alves.

Waiting for the Unleashed episode...

im pretty sure that silva will beat the daylights out of cote. but kos vs alves should be good. i was really hoping for diego but he got injured in a training match and can't make it. but i wanna see alves destroy kos so that might make it worth watching.

Re: UFC 90 - Silva vs. Cote

I'm not too excited for this card. I'm not hosting the fight for once, I'm pitching in at a buddies though just since he's always at my fight parties. I think Silva can beat Cote hungover, even though I like Cote. Alves and Kos will hopefully be good, I hate Kos but I see him laying on Thiago for a decision. I wish the Griffin Sherk fight were televised, and I hope Clementi puts on an entertaining win over Grey, they are both tough guys cutting like 30lbs to fight at 55

Here in Tucson there are several sports bars (and strip clubs, heh) that show the fights and you can get in for about $5 (plus your meal and drinks of course.) But I usually watch with a group and we each chip in about $10.

I'd be ridiculously surprised if Cote beats Silva.
