One Armed FGB

Yesterday at MT Baker CrossFit Whidbey Island a group of us did FGB. Skip Chase decided he was going to join in. No big deal except he just had surgery to repair a torn left bicep a week ago. So, he completed the whole thing, subbing KB thrusters for WB and KB SDHP for barbell SDHP. He scored a 281 with one freaking arm.

Obviously I have a long way to go, but folks like Skip are an inspiration.

Re: One Armed FGB

Thanks for posting this, Chad! I appreciate your kind words.
We can't allow our injuries or weaknesses to become the excuses of why we can't do something. We MUST continue train, in spite of the injuries.

I did not plan on performing FGB with you guys on Saturday, but after observing your performance in the first round, inspired ME to jump in and 'get some' the second round.
Thanks!

Skip... you are one sick f**k. I had rotator cuff surgery almost 2 years ago and all I could think about was my Vicodin. You are clearly out of my league. Good luck with the rehab and be careful.

Re: One Armed FGB

Tom,
I hope your statement that I am "......one sick f**k." is a compliment!

I encourage all to encourage your clients to (with dr. approval) to continue training during recovery from injury. Most individuals are conditioned to whine and discontinue training during injury recovery and you will help them to learn what they are capable of performing in spite of the injury.

I have continued to train every day. Last week I did a 1 armed Angie;100- 1 armed jumping pull-ups, 100 1-armed band assisted pushups, sit-ups and squats; "Christine"-500m row, 12 bodyweight deadlifts (I straddled the bar and pulled my bodyweight with 1 arm) and 21 1-armed jumping pull-ups; Painstorm with a dumbbell.

Skip you are a true testament to working with pain. A real inspiration for trainers and athletes alike. Dedication personified. I can only hope to be at your level when I'm as young as you. I say that because you seem physically to be going in reverse when it comes to aging. All the best.

Solid work, Skip. And here I am complaining about not-quite-stress-fractures. Thanks for the moto
