While I agree in principle this isn't always an option.

Re: Introducing Girlfriend

Just like any new client, I'd use an onramp for my girlfriend...

Don't know how my wife would feel about it, though.

Good form, but most of all have fun.

Ciao,

Charles

Truer words have only rarely been uttered.

My best friend and I jabbered about CF for a year and a half around my wife and his GF. They decided on their own to try it and things went much more smoothly. I suspect it was mainly due to my buddy training my wife and me training his GF.

My guy is the other trainer at my affiliate. We do NOT work out together for the most part. Only rarely. And only on lifts. Only when going heavy. Anything metcon is done totally individually. We like each other too much to work out together.

Tell her her legs look great after doing squats. That should be enough. Have you seen the pain and agony women go through just to wear heals all day?

Re: Introducing Girlfriend

Training with your gf could backfire, or it could be the coolest. Risk vs Reward.

Re: Introducing Girlfriend

I have been working on getting my wife in to CF. It turns in to a fitness argument every time it comes up. She just loves the elliptical machine so she can read her books. But I finally came across this 2 week beginner program for her to try it out, so far so good, she is a few day's in and is loving it.

Re: Introducing Girlfriend

I got my girlfriend a month membership in July- after her first two classes, (and a year of ignoring me when I talked crossfit) she loved it. But she still likes the treadmill more. When she did go she would talk about how great it was, but somehow always found herself running errands, too busy, etc. during the class times. All in all I am happy she at least gave it a shot. It never became a priority for her to schedule her life around, more just something to do if she has free time and it is convenient.

That's how my wife is right now with CF. I've been training her in our basement, and it's been all well and good, but she just isn't excited by it. She even says that its just something she "does".
