I had a shoulder injury about a month ago that forced me to abandon most weighted exercises. As a substitute I chose to do Tabata intervals for which ever bodyweight exercises I could perform without a significant degree of discomfort. I started with just squats and situps and slowly incorporated pushups and then pullups a couple of days ago. I only did this three days a week and did the workout in the "Tabata Something Else" fashion (no rest between exercises).

Yesterday was my first day back doing weighted exercises so I thought I would give "Fran" a go.

My previous PR was 8:26 so I thought I would go through the workout nice and slow (even slower than my usual 8:26) and just get back in the groove. The result?

7:36. A 50 second PR. Not a blazing time for most but definitely cruising for me. Surprised me to no end.

You've got to love Tabatas.

Good job Luis!

Some people when confronted with a situation like yours take the easy out and sit around and do nothing until everything is healed or "perfect". Way to make the best of a bad situation.

Chopping 50 seconds off Fran is no small feat, even if you were 100% healthy for that entire month. To do it after a month of almost no pressing ... wow! Awesome stuff Luis!!
