Is it OK to deadlift while standing on a platform? I want to develop more lower body strength and wondered if the added range of motion would help. Is there any harm in this? I was thinking about a platform made of two-by-fours and plywood, so my feet would be about 4.5 inches higher than normal.

Just do snatch grip deadlifts. It effectively does the same thing(increasing the ROM).

Do snatch grip DLs on a platform and you will have great power out of the hole. Working on your weak areas will always help....but also do regular DLs too as you will be able to do more weight and build more strength. All compliment each other.

Cool, thanks for the feedback, gents. I really appreciate it. I'll use a snatch grip for now, and plan on building a platform in the next couple of weeks.
