zone carb block calculation question

Hey all,

I have read that you should subtract the fiber from your carb sources when calculating block size. My question, for example if asparagus has 3 g carbs and 3 g fiber per 5 oz, what is the carb block size?

Re: zone carb block calculation question

That would be zero. I don't think that's right.

Two things to watch out for, wherever you're getting your numbers:

1. Rounding. 5 ounces is a small amount. Maybe you need a satchel of asparagus to make a block (dunno, too lazy to get up and grab my Zone book); if so, then at 5 ounces the amount of usable carbs may "round down" to zero.

2. Pre-calculation. Maybe whatever source you're using already subtracted fiber from the usable carbs (meaning it originally had 6 carbs, minus the 3 fiber, for 3 remaining).

Jeez, for the time it took to type this, I could've looked it up. Oh well.

Re: zone carb block calculation question

Asparagus has about 1/2 of its total carb amount as fiber. So, its not all fiber lol.
