Shoulder Issue

So I have had some shoulder pain for the last couple months. Figured it was a strained muscle. Went to the ortho last night and everything appeared fine, but the doc said that I would need to give it some rest and let it heal up. I am just wondering what types of things I can do in the meantime. Should I just do WODs that are lower body oriented. I am obviously staying away from any presses, swings, pull ups for now and OLY lifts will have to take a backseat. I am guessing I can still squat, but do you think deadlifts would present any issues?

Re: Shoulder Issue

What was the diagnosis?

Anything non-painful is fine. Just take it slow... if you want to try then do it light

Re: Shoulder Issue

Im actually scheduled for an MRI just to rule everything out. But he said from the films and the range of motion tests there were no indications of any rotator cuff issues or slap tear. So I'll know more after the MRI. To be honest, and I know this really means nothing because injuries can always be masked, but it never bothers me during a workout, only after and then just for a day or so. I have actually taken this whole week off and it feels pretty good.

I'll probably just stay away from any heavy presses and oly lifts for a couple weeks and def kipping. I am just learning to kip and I think that was what really made it feel like garbage a couple weeks ago (did cindy and really felt it for a couple days after).

Re: Shoulder Issue

Why couldn't you do single arm work? Single arm dumbbell press, KB swing, KB clean/press, TGU's, etc. Does it hurt to stabilize yourself on that arm? You could do the retraction part of a renegade row with your good arm if it doesn't hurt to hold the pushup position with the bad arm. DB thruster (or KB) too.

Even single arm ring rows.

I'm going through this right now, and this is all stuff my trainers have thrown at me in the last couple of weeks.

Re: Shoulder Issue

Oh sure I can def. do single arm stuff. Just figured if Im going to give myself some time off then I'll just do it and give both shoulders a rest. I am tall and have freakishly long arms, so the joints take a beating.

Any sites for good shoulder stretches?
