I have never done overhead squats before, other that the last motion in the snatch which I usually do with a broomstick or a really light empty bar. How should I approach a max day like this?

Technique work. Start with broomstick work. If you get comfy with that, then move to the empty bar. If you get comfy there, gradually add a bit of weight. I wouldn't try to get any significant amount of weight up. Just a bit.

If your form is not just right, just a slight amount of weight will reveal it quickly. As the Crossfit journal said: "The overhead squat is a quick punisher of sloppy technique."

You might want to go for a few heavy sets in the clean and jerk, deadlift, or a squatting variation to make up for the strengthening effect you're missing from not doing heavy OHS's.
