Cool Blood Pressure Ridiculousness - Zone Diet!!

I have been testing my blood pressure all the time and it's sort of ****ing me off, mainly since my doc's aide took it and said it was great, I asked what it was and she said 130/80. I'm like oh yeah lady that's friggen awesome BP for a 23year old athlete...haha...

This may be just another testimonial for the zone diet...

If I go out drinking one night, or eat to much during the day(even if it's healthy food!! )my blood pressure is like 135-145 over 65-80 for the next day, NOT EVEN TWO FULL DAYS of healthy eating (ZONE-ING) following that and it's back to 110 over 60....for example, I'm on 16 blocks triple fat... i'm a male, 154#, 5'6", body fat 7-8%, If tomorrow I eat say an extra 4 blocks my BP will be off the charts..around 138/75. At the end of the next day back to 15-16 blocks it's back to 110/60. Haha, doesn't this seem ridiculous?!?

Re: Blood Pressure Ridiculousness - Zone Diet!!

Are you testing it at the same time throughout the day, and in the same conditions (time since last meal, last exercise, emotional state, etc...)

I hate to point out the obvious, but there are a ton of things that can affect blood pressure besides diet.

Re: Blood Pressure Ridiculousness - Zone Diet!!

Hey Joe like Christian says--blood pressure is not a constant. It fluctuates throughout your day depending on diet, emotional state due to internal and external circumstances, exercise, etc.

130/80 at the doctors office--maybe a little anxiety from being at the doctor? Was the doctor's aide a hottie?

For years on my physicals for work I was 140/80 and it p****d me off too. But I was always nervous going to the doctor's. Finally I bought a little electronic blood pressure thingee and measured it at home everyday at different times. It was always at or below 120/80. When I started taking fish oil I noticed my blood pressure at the doctor's office went down--it's always around 110-120/70 now.

Just using your mind you can almost make your blood pressure unreadable. I love doing that at the doctor it freaks them out.

If you want a quick way of freaking them out, just hold your breath during the entire time the machine is trying to read your blood pressure and your pulse.

other than self entertainment.. what benefit is this?

It will **** them off, and most liking end up not taking you serious for anything.

Re: Blood Pressure Ridiculousness - Zone Diet!!

I have a question about my blood pressure too. Went to doc 2 weeks ago, and it was 120/62.

I know 120 on top is considered normal, but, I thought it'd be lower. Is this something I should pay attention to?

Re: Blood Pressure Ridiculousness - Zone Diet!!

Thanks guys! Ya it's crazy. I do test around the same times. I think the mental side where the whole time the machine's working I am like "if this is anything but 110/60 i am going to be ****ED!!!" doesn't help the ol' systolic BP hahaha take care, thanks again!
