Hero Challenge

I'm trying to put together a fund raising event for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. It will be open to Emergency Service Personnel here in Naples (police, fire, EMS). I thought the best way would be to set it up like the CF games but with team challenges. Only a very small portion of the people who will likely sign up have CF experience so I would need challenges that are relatively low skill. I'm considering using teams of 5 competing in 3 challenges drawn hopper style. Time, total weight and points will be used to determine winning team.

So far I have: Team 5k. Last member across the line stops the clock.

Team 1 mile, with 15 pushups for each every minute.

Team 400 m. relay.

Mixed mode relay: 1 leg each of 400m., 150# sled drag
tire flip, pull up, 400m.

Bench Press: each mans weight added up for a team total

Deadlift: Same as Bench Press

Team 400m., 200Thrusters,100Pullups, 400m.

Team Cindy: all 5 do Cindy and the top score and lowest
score are averaged for a team score.

Can you guys help me out with a few more challenges? We're drawing from a wide group of people, not necessarily Crossfitters so I need to keep the skill level and reps reasonable. I know a team of 5 CFrs would laugh at 200 thrusters and 100 pullups on the way to victory.

Re: Hero Challenge

the boards have been really dead lately. i really like your ideas. you might want to reconsider the deadlifts. like you said these guys might not be trained in that move and might push too hard for the competition. and with cindy why not just average all 5 score?

maybe a 100m fireman carry relay with all 5 members? the 2nd guy carries the first runner, the third guy carries the 2nd and so on until the 5th guy gets carried by the first guy that got carried. or you could use the same concept but with human wheel barrels.

what about some kind of distance throwing event? shot put, hammer, 2 pood KB?

how about a race where all 5 members have to carry a huge piece of timber?

something more simple would be tug of war.

hopefully that gets things started for you.

Re: Hero Challenge

Yeah since you've got 5 man teams, find a big heavy thing that they need to carry 100m each. Think Atlas stones, cement blocks, giant logs, that type of thing. Make it a relay and fastest team to get all 5 men through wins.
