Griffin submits Rua and Lidell/Jardine goes to a decision... man I didn't pick either of those.

Re: Ufc 76

I was really impressed with the progress Griffin has made in his fighting. For a while I thought he stagnated and didn't show improvement -- he definitely proved that wrong last night! I also though that Rua most likely didn't take Forrest seriously - he gassed awfully quickly and also seemed not to have a sense of how to use the cage. My guess is he didn't train hard and didn't train with strategies on incorporating the cage.

SOOO happy Jardine won! I wanted him to win really badly, but wasn't sure he could do it. Keith is a great guy and works really damn hard at what he does. Greg Jackson's is an amazing camp full of positive and hard working people and I couldn't be happier for them!

Oh and I wish Tyson Griffin could be on EVERY card -- that kid puts on great fights!

I'm also glad that Fitch won -- I've always thought that Diego never lived up to all the hype. If he went back to Jackson's and trained properly he might be able to, but he's not focused enough and not strong enough mentally, in my opinion.

I'm not going to lie, I am not a fan of Chucks style of hands down, no blocking, and wild swings.

This fight shows how flawed it really is.

Re: Ufc 76

I have to admit, I cleaned up betting on Forrest.

The CompuBox stats for the fights are on mmanews.com. The only area where Shogun had the edge was takedowns, 4-1, the striking advantage for Forrest was 3-1.

The reigning theory is that the drug testing "somehow" affects the PRIDE guys.

I was wondering why the Pride fighters did not do well across the board. And I thought it was due to learning a different fighting system in the UFC. Regardless, I was still hoping for Forrest Griffin to win and Liddel to lose.
I was also routing for Fitch to win as well. I am glad that I was not dissapointed. That and a GB Packer win on Sunday made me a very happy camper this weekend.

As a fan, but not a practitioner, I was thinking that Chuck didn't adapt his game, but I don't know what he should have done.

I was thinking that he needed to close the space to avoid the kicks and stalk Jardine more. But I could definitely be wrong there.

+1

Out of all the fighters I've met he is hands down the nicest, most down-to-earth guy. His standup looked great and he seemed to do a good job of falling into Chuck's vicious punching-while-backing-up technique.

Between that fight and Leben and Quarry's performances at UFN 11, I'm a happy girl!

Re: Ufc 76

I will eat a leg kick as a trade for a solid right, the problem was, chuck wasn't making him pay.

As a result of Sat night, we are probably looking at

Chuck vs. Shogun
Forrest vs. Vanderlei

I was actually rooting for Sell and I thought he had it won 'til the crazy ending! Some wild fights on that card - was a good and entertaining one.
