Re: Memorial Day Murph.

First time doing Murph and finished RXd in 41:43 broken up 5-10-15 X 20, no vest. First run in 7:09, then the second run in 8:57. That second run was unbelievably difficult. Didn't expect that second run to be as difficult as it was. Real mental test, no doubt. Cannot wait to try it with a vest and straight without breaking it up. Great WOD for a great American hero.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

I did it and it rocked!! I always do the WOD Rx'd. The pull ups are brutal!!! I need to work on butterfly pull ups. They would probably alleviate some of the pain....My annual goal is sub 60 minutes. I completed it in 58:19. Partitioned 5-20-25 which worked out better than last year.

I did it on Fort Sam Houston, and got a lot of kudos for honoring the lieutenant. Eveyone loved the shirt from Forged.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

Did it in 59 and I'm 55 and living in Saudi. It was 105 out for the run, so I was real loose. I'm going to do this in the evening again this week and get under 50 - I hope! I've got two nephews I've got to beat, or my reputation is ****! God I love CrossFit!

42:38 No vest. 5 Days later, the Doms has subsided and I can do more than swim, bike and row.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

I did my first WOD with pull-ups Rx'ed (no band) on 5/20 - it was "Jackie". I figured if I could do 30 pull-ups unassisted, then why not 100? Ha! I Rx'ed "Murph" but it wasn't pretty; the pull-ups were brutal. Finished in 1:18:28...can't wait to try it again next year!

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

I'm a little late reporting, but here goes:

I did Murph in 46:13, no vest. It was not pretty - wormy push-ups and arm-assisted squats like Annie T did in 2011 games. But, I did it.

My strategy was 5/10/20 for 15 rounds, and 5/10 for five rounds. My legs felt pretty good during the second run. I was just tired overall - felt like a shuffle.

My splits were:
8:00 mile,
35:18 after the BW movements, and
46:13 finish (2nd mile was 10:55).

Lately I've only been doing one or two WODs a week. A couple years ago when I was doing four to five WODs per week I dropped in at CrossFit Atheltics in Pittsburgh, and they were doing Murph that day. My time was in the 31 minute range, and got me 2nd on their leaderboard. I can get back to that level of fitness.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

did it unweighted in 30:52, first time doing it. I did it "Cindy" style 5-10-15 x 20...
first mile was somewhere under 6,
second was 6:39

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

Did it with the weighted vest 20#. My back was out a bit so the transitions were slow. Did it Cindi style.. 5-10.15 .. next time would do a few larger sets so I don't transition so many times.. maybe 10-20-30 for a while then 7-14-21 then less if I had too. That second mile with the pack on was brutal.. took 11 min. First mile was 7:30 happy about that.. Total time was 38 min.

Re: Memorial Day Murph.

Got in Murph on Memorial Day. First time doing that WOD, but I was all amped up after reading about the fallen soldier it was named after.

Finished in 41:09 with no vest. Started out doing a 5-10-15 Cindy model, but after about 8 rounds, started doubling up some of them. Was just proud to get through the workout Rx'ed.

Incredible workout, and the cookout afterward was great. Just a blessing all around to put myself through that in honor of "Murph".
