how do I get more inches

on my snatch? I want to get the bar higher. What movements would help with that?

Re: how do I get more inches

You're talking a full snatch right, not power? Try snatches from high blocks (just above knees), and focus on pulling all the way through the third pull. After you get to the hip, focus on popping your hands up through to the catch as opposed to letting the bar float up as you go down.

It would be the same idea if you did a hang from the knees. I just suggested blocks because having them there allows you to set yourself up right without having to worry about time under tension deadlifting the bar up and lowering to the right position.

If you follow the USAW method, you strive for ankle extension and shrugging through the shoulders. It seems to be similar with the Chinese methods. Triple extension. Jump Shrugs.

If you follow the Pendlay/McCauley, that's not part of the problem.

is shrugging a myth? And what is pendlay/McCauleys take on it?

Basically Don will say that trying to fully extend the ankle will throw the bar forward away from the COG (midfoot).
