Receding Sit Ups

I've always had an "issue" with sit ups, but after discovering CF over a year ago and using it's no nonsense approach to the exercise I saw great improvement in this exercise. But recently I seem to be going back the other way, and now suffer failure way before 20 full ROM sit ups, where before I could pump out close to 40 no problems. I've seen increases in all my other body weight movements like pull ups (at 25), push ups (at 40), recently did a WOD where there were 3 rounds of 50 air squats in them (did them all unbroken), so it's not a general thing. Anyone else had something similar to them happen? I've decided to take a break from sit ups for a while in case it's some kind of muscle overload, but am curious if anyone can offer some advice.

Thx,

Diego

Re: Receding Sit Ups

Have you recently had any serious DOMS or dark urine from full ROM situps such as on GHD or other large range of motion abdominal exercise?

Nope, none of that, it was top of my list as soon as I began going backwards and struggling with them. Just a total lack of strength and resistance. :/

Re: Receding Sit Ups

Many exercises ( beside sit ups ) stress the core a lot so it could affect your capacity to progress in this particular exercise.

The thing is if you are indeed making progress in other BW movements like push-ups and all, and the fact that every part of the body is under strain from multiple exercises in a CF-like program, you will have great difficulty to pinpoint the exact cause of the draw back.

If it's of great importance to you I would suggest, like you said, a little break from intense core work and try a PR in a few days.

But dont stress out if you still have a decent number of consecutive sit-ups : you can't be the best in everything
