Hi! I stumbled across Crossfit last night looking for something new to try and spent WAAAAY to long browsing the site. I'm thrilled to see Olympic Weightlifting incorporated in the CF program. As well as seeing good ole Coach Burgener posting! :-) I've been a competitive OL'er on and off for the past 16 years and I've trained in several different gyms. More often than not I have to shake my head at the meager attempts of the general public at getting fit and the lack of knowledge of safety and proper form. I think Crossfit will be a refreshing addition to my training. Seeing as I have no gymnastics background it should also be a good challenge.

I guess this would be the appropriate place to include my stats as well:

39yo, currently 115lbs

compete as a 48 or 53K (48 is getting harder and harder to reach)

All time best lifts:

Snatch: 57.5K (126.5lbs)
C&J: 70K (154lbs)
BSQ: 100K (220lbs)
FSQ: 80K (176lbs)
OHS: 70K
RJ: 80K
DL: 100K

This is by far the best fitness forum I've visited.

Train Hard, Train Smart!

Welcome Veronica. I already am appreciating how much you bring to the boards with your O lifting comments today.

Hey Veronica,
Nice to see another member of the "40-ish, 115-ish" club! Kelly Moore and I are the charter members...we'll teach you the official handshake one of these days, after a mysterious ritual veiled in secrecy...
Nice numbers! Kelly and I are reformed (reforming?) powerlifters but CrossFit, Coach B., and Dan John have given me the o-lift bug.

Welcome...

I've already benefitted from your advice in the exercise section. The advice of experienced o-lifters is highly valued here. Welcome!

Thanks for the nice welcome guys! I can handle the OL workouts, but not sure I can do tomorrows bench @BW, and more than 5 reps of anything, Yikes! Can someone fill me in on the 'official warm-up?'

thanks!

Welcome Veronica, the warm-up is on Lynnes F.A.Q on the Crossfit main page. Here it is.

CrossFit Warmup? The "official" CrossFit Warm-up is in the April 2003 CrossFit Journal. 3 rounds of 10-15 reps of
Sampson Stretch (do the Sampson Stretch once each round for 15-30 seconds)
Overhead Squat with broomstick
Sit-up
Back-extension
Pull-up
Dip
Note that for a workout that's dip or pullup-centric, you might want to do something else in the warmup.
