Not really. Having been there a few times myself (incl. way before CF), I think Pukie's pretty funny. Rhabdo is not.

I appreciate your condescension. While nausea/vomiting can be a late symptom of rhabdo, simple exercise-induced N/V is not "correlated" with it...is it to be encouraged?...of course not...but sometimes it (N/V) happens and there is no need to panic and lump it in with a very serious injury.

Don't be so literal. I meant the correlation in the balls to the walls approach at all costs mentality. To accept nausea and vomiting as something that just happens with a workout is a problem.

In the absence of CF how many of you had ever heard of rhabdo? Seriously, I am pretty sure that I have had mild cases of it in Basic, at SWCC and at the Boat Unit and there wasn't a name for it. Two of those places were absolutely put out or get out places. I never heard of rhabdo until I started CF. Are they glamorizing it, or just advertising it as a concern. I think the latter, but I, apparently, am biased.

It's also an issue in some marathon/ultramarathon runners.

Not to be confused with bloody urine due to dehydration, an even more common problem in distance runners, which I've had before. Freaked me out but really not a big issue.

Pay more attention to the main site. Pukie is a clown with Rhabdo. Or at least he was at one point. On the old vidoes, the pictures of pukie were graphic images of his kidneys falling out dripping blood all over the place.

On top of that, the nickname "rhabdo" has become some sort of a badge of honor in CF. I don't think people would be laughing if a pro athlete's nickname was "the cancer."

It's not funny at all.

Yeah, that was Uncle Rhabdo. It was a case of black humour that some people appreciate, some people don't...its similar to a soldier or a fireman joking with peers about getting into trouble on a mission/call. You don't see Uncle Rhabdo around any more. Pukie is not a clown with rhabdo.
