The Goals Thread

I had a goal at the beginning of the year to get back down to 205, and be able to do 20 kipping pull-ups again. I set my goal to be achieved by Easter. I met my goal and it felt great. Now I weigh 195, and need new goals. Yes, I am one of those goal oriented people. I have a feeling a lot of us here are!

Here's my idea. Use this thread to publicly state your next goal. When you achieve it, post back here and quote yourself with your original post to remind everyone of what it was, and that you met it.

You could also use it for updates, setbacks, etc.. on the way to your goal.

I think the positive energy shared by everyone reaching their goals can be powerful.

By the way, I put this in "Testimonials" because once you have achieved the goal you set, you automatically have a testimonial!

So, who wants to play?

Re: The Goals Thread

I'll start.

My next goal is to have 20 strict dead hang pull-ups (at 10 now), 20 strict handstand push-ups (at 5 now), and a 5k run in less than 20 minutes (at 23:37 now).

I know none of these are mind blowing hard, but they are things I want to achieve.

I will achieve them by the end of this year, if not sooner.

Re: The Goals Thread

Hey, good idea. I have tons of goals but I never write any of them down and I feel this is a huge detriment to my training.

My next goal is 340 deadlift (2x my bodyweight). My current max is 315.

June 15th is my goal date. I think I can reach it earlier. My deadlift went up 15 pounds in a one-week period for my last max.

Good luck with your goals and everyone else who posts here.

Re: The Goals Thread

Good idea, Andrew. Our numbers are somewhat similar (though I run slower), so our goals are similar, too. Additionally, I want to:

do a muscle-up
50 consecutive double-unders
sub 5:00 "Fran"
dial in the Zone diet.

I'm GTG'ing the HSPUs and double-unders. You GTG'ing, as well?

Andrew,

Hit my 4:59 Fran today. ;-) Just thought I'd stoke the motivational fires by sharing.

So I am at 6 strict HSPU's now. Need to work on these more.

Did what I call playground pull-ups this morning. Find anything you can hang off of at a playground (the harder to hold and more awkward the better) and do pull-ups. I did just 5 sets of 5 strict dead hangs this way this morning. This was after doing 100 burpees for time, so my strength was probably not as good as it could have been.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's progress. Keep at it!
