How do you "Break Paleo"

First let me say that I've been doing Paleo for about 3 weeks and have dropped 5#. I'm not going "Full Bore", I eat Paleo at least 2 meals a day, sometimes all meals a day for 2-3 days at a time.

Sometimes I cheat. I do it without hesitation. Sometimes I want a couple crackers with peanut butter, or a slice of the nice "Artisan Bread" my wife bought with all the nuts and garlic cloves and twigs and **** in it. No guilt, no beating myself over the head, no hesitation. Live life.

I'm not talking about those type of things.

What I want to know is how do you really blow-up your diet. I'm talking about having been really good for days or weeks, what is your go to gorge?

Example.....Mine:

Bologna on white bread with mayo, pickle, processed American CheeseFood and a side of Cape Cod Salt and Vinegar Kettle CHips that make the roof of your mouth feel as though it has been massaged with an entire box of Cap'n Crunch.

Trust me, there is nothing redeeming in that meal. But that is what I will have in a true moment of weakness. Then I get back on my wagon and trek on.

Re: How do you "Break Paleo"

Thanks for the reminder about Bologna on white bread. I haven't had one in ages. Try frying the bologna prior to making the sandwich. Just had PB and J last night.

This last weekend was a couple of great cheats, well a cheat weekend as friends, my wife, and I celebrated two birthdays and two anniversaries in Las Vegas.

Breakfast buffet two days in a row:
Eggs (lots scrambled)
Breakfast Calzone (about a small pizza worth)
Breakfast Pizza (couple slices)
Doughnuts (1)
French Toast (4 slices)
Hot Links (3 or 4)
Friend Shrimp (Dozen or so)
Biscuts and Gravy (couple)
Ice Cream (2 - 3 scoops)
This was done twice

Dinners
Night 1
Japanese - a couple rolls of sushi not that memorable
Night 2
Italian - some ravioli plate, good but not your mom's lasagna. Cheesecake was great.
Night 3
USDA Prime 42 day dry aged 24oz T-Bone, Mac and Cheese, Grilled Tomatos with spinach and cheese, garlic mashed potatos, some carrot cake, and Creme Burlee (sp?), and the bread before alll that.

Some of my normal cheats would be multiple candy bars, variations on grilled cheese sandwiches, Tommy's Chillidogs and fries, any 3 item combo from any local chinese take out, pastrami footlongs, and the greatest, one bag of Oreos in one sitting.

Thanks for letting me vent, need to work on getting below 300lbs.

John

I used to crush 4-5 slices of bologna on toast with spicy ketchup (the kind with Tabasco sauce built in...) So gross but so delicious. It's been a while tho.

Re: How do you "Break Paleo"

although disgusting for you i definitely am on board with the white bread and bologna with kraft cheese slices. something about it is just so damn good and i could eat like three of them. i like to crush lays or ruffles or any kind of regular potato chips inside the sandwhich as well.

DAMN you guys are killing me. pringles thats what i want with (and in) the sandwhich. just regular ol' pringles

Re: How do you "Break Paleo"

Last night I had a calzone about the size of a 6 week old baby.

Stuffed with at least 2 types of cheese, chicken, onions, and mushrooms.

Was delicious however I was in extreme pain the next few hours.

What you don't want to hear:Why ruin all that good work?
If you are craving a "cheat" you not eating enough quality nutrition. Go Paleo full bore for a cheat, more steak.

What you want to hear: Ben & Jerrys and tons of whipping cream.

Re: How do you "Break Paleo"

Thomas, you are so dead on it's not funny. I killed 3 different cheat sessions in the planning last week with a big freaking sirloin. Love that stuff.

The ice cream is to die for. Especially Ben & Jerry's. I don't know what happened last summer, but all of a sudden if I eat dairy.......BOOM.....Instant voluminous gas and painful bloating. My abdomen gets really distended. Up until that point I loved dairy in all it's configurations. Now I avoid it like the plague. Everyone now and then I'll sneak a piece of cheese, or finish the kids milk. But B&J with whipped cream would be death with a smile on my face.
