Wrist Pain

I have been doing CrossFit for a little over 1 month now and I really love it.

I have run into a snag which I am worried is going to slow my progress significantly.

This is related to doing Cleans, Clean & Jerks, or other such exercises where you are supposed to rack the bar on your shoulders with your fingers under the bar.

I am not very flexible in my hips or shoulders, and as such, it is a bit of a chore for me to really snap the bar up into a rack position. I find that I get a great deal of pain in my wrists, as if I am hyperextending the.

I have noticed some pain in my right wrist at the base of the wrist if you were to follow the pinky finger down. If I rotate my wrist to a full palm up position, or full palm down position, or bend my wrist back as if I was going to rack a bar on my shoulders, it really hurts in that spot of the wrist.

There isn't any swelling or discoloration. I can't think what it could be, but the pain is not constant.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Wrist Pain

Sorry, I meant to say that it is constant.

Re: Wrist Pain

Drop anything that aggravates it for now.

You're going to have to wrok on strengthening your wrists and improving mobility.

Nerve glides wfs

And soft tissue massage should help. Fish oil for inflammation.

Work on gaining flexibility first... and then strengthen it with stuff like rice bucket.
