Claude's Log (Monroe, LA)

Hey everyone. Been doing Crossfit for about 3 weeks now and I've already dropped 10 pounds! Thought it would be a good idea to log my workouts as early as possible to see the vast improvement yet to come.

I guess I'll start with yesterdays workout.

WOD 1-8-09

Ten rounds for time of:
3 Weighted Pull-ups, 45 pounds
5 Strict Pull-ups
7 Kipping Pull-up

I can only do one honest to God pull-up right now so I definitely had to scale this one.

I did five rounds for time of:

10 jumping pull-ups while resisting on the way down.

By the time I got to the fifth round I was mostly just jumping and falling so I figured I was done. Took about 20 minutes.

You're from my hometown! Actually, I grew up in Calhoun but whatever.

Congrats on starting CF. Where are you working out?

No kidding! Small world. Glad someone made it out of this area.
I have a great sized detached garage. I installed my own pull-up bar, and I will soon be adding a 15' rope as well as some rings. No Crossfit affiliate in Monroe yet, but my brother in law keeps talking about starting one, so who knows.

WOD

1-9-09

Front Squat 5-5-5-5-5 reps

I didn't have a bar available so I did it with dumbbells resting on the front of my shoulders. Each dumbbell was 40 pounds.

WOD 1-10-09

Run 5k

This would be the most distance I have ever run at one time, ever. I jogged the first mile without stopping. Then I walked one lap, ran two, walked one, ran one, walked one, ran one, walked one.......and I forgot to time myself.

Felt good to just finish though.

Haha! Yeah, I made it out!

Yay on the garage gym! Tell your BIL to get on it! I need somewhere to workout when I'm home for the holidays.

Would be nice for sure. He's a Doctor but he doesn't live here. He want's me to get in shape then get my certification then see about opening a box and letting me run it. I'll keep you updated.

WOD 1-12-09

For time 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, and 5 rep rounds of:
Virtual shoveling
Pull-ups

I've got to start timing my workouts! I used a 25 lb pound plate instead of the 45 and I did jumping pullups with heavy resistance on the way down (at the end they were closer to jump and falls). I finished, and that's the main point I guess. I got awful close to pukie (I think it was all the jumping).

Re: Claude's Log (Monroe, LA)

WOD 1-13-09

For time:
155 pound Power clean 15 reps
30 Ring dips
155 pound Power clean 12 reps
24 Ring dips
155 pound Power clean 9 reps
18 Ring dips
155 pound Power clean 6 reps
12 Ring dips
155 pound Power clean 3 reps
6 Ring dips

Since I'm not comfortable with how much weight I can handle with my form on Power Cleans, my friend and I did it with 95 pounds. I haven't installed my rings yet so I did dips between two workbenchs in my garage gym. We finished it, with much heavy breathing and pinched faces.
Just shy of 15 minutes.
