*shrug* They're leading their division, so it's clearly not a complete disaster.

I assume you're referring to the unfortunate alcohol-related deaths among Cardinals players the last several years. But if merely serving at alcohol at the post-game spread had anything to do with it, you'd expect to see similar incidents all across baseball.

Nice quote Greg. I can think of a couple of situations where I can use that.

Didn't mean for it to sound like that -

He got popped in march 2007 for his own DUI, then his player died in a DUI accident less than 2 months later. After that, he decided to ban alcohol from the clubhouse -- a pretty bold move considering they play at "Busch Stadium"

Re: CF & alcohol??

I've been harboring a suspicion since I first started reading these forums and doing crossfit that a lot of very good "low carb" crossfitters/athletes use beer as an effective recovery drink whether they know it or not.

There are plenty of elite athletes who drink a few beers. Some consider it an important part of their diet and not a "cheat".

EDIT: a quick google search failed to support my suspicion. This link seems to support the opposite for larger amounts of alcohol. WFS http://www.medindia.net/news/Beer-Gu...er-49619-1.htm

Funny, I say the same thing with about every season.

Spring is here, nothing like a Beer and a Baseball game on TV.
Summer is here, nothing like some BBQ and Beers by the pool.
Fall is here = Football. Nothing like some good Tailgating!

not flaming, just funny I do the same thing each season.

either way.
Dude, you can drink wine out of a BOX!

I would echo this and add, address whether you have a problem or not before it causes much greater problems in your life.

After a robust, 30+ year career of partying like a rock star, CF (and a couple of other factors) are causing me to go on the wagon, maybe this time for good. I've been relatively fortunate til now with regard to the effects drinking's had on me. But . . . it really isn't making sense for me anymore.

I do agree with the first post in the thread, it's a lot easier to reconcile CF (or anything that requires intensity, focus and sobriety) with drinking when you're young than when you're 40 or over.

I would not begrudge anyone having fun while you're young; I'm just grateful actually for what CF is showing me about my body and what it can and can't (any longer) do.

Drinking a couple of beers the night before a PT test tradition for many in the Army.
