Made my first slam ball this weekend based on Pierre's instructions. Best advice. Don't use wet sand! My bag of sand picked up some moisture from the monsoon rain we had a couple of weeks back. Drying the sand out so it was useable took a while and was extremely messy.

It weighed out to be about 21.7 lbs. I couldn't quite get it completely filled up, but did get it pretty close.

Here are some pics.

Pic of the plug area isn't that great, but should give you an idea of what it looks like.

I'll have to see if I can snap a pic of it in the dark. Figured the glow-in-the-dark ball might be nice if I was doing a late in the evening workout.

I fired off 10 slams after getting home from work and no explosion of sand! Felt good to have at it.

Eric,

You must snap a lot of lines to go through that economy size container of chalk!!

Steve,

Yep, left over from days when I was building manses for the Rich & Fabulous. Oh wait, that was a dream I had the other night.

It worked pretty well as a funnel for the sand.

I dumped the chalk in a garbage bag and then tore the label off the container and tossed it into the bag. Didn't want anyone freaking out if they opened up a bag of unidentified red powdery substance. Eh, i suppose that could still happen if the label sinks to the bottom of the bag. Oh well, I'll burn that bridge before I get to it, LOL.
