Tim's 2007 Omnipotent Man-Dude Training Log

I haven't spent much time on the CF board recently, due to my life being increasingly crazy. I miss it, though, and I'm starting this log as a reason to come back regularly. I usually don't follow the main-page WOD, preferring to focus a little more on raw strength. I also enjoy coming up with my own metcon workouts. Like today's, for instance...

9/28/07:
Big Dripper
AMRAP, 20 minutes...
-1 burpee
-1 jump over a bench
-1 manmaker, 25 lb dumbells

Each round add one rep to each exercise, i.e. round 2 is 2 burpees, 2 jumps, 2 manmakers; round 7 is 7 burpees, 7 jumps, 7 manmakers.

The last time I did this workout was on 5/14/07, and I got 8 rounds plus 2 burpees. Today I made 8 rounds plus 9 burpees, 9 jumps, and 1 manmaker.

Ridiculous amounts of DOMS in my arms today. Obviously I haven't been doing enough pullups. There's no good reason for them to hurt this much.

Re: Tim's 2007 Omnipotent Man-Dude Training Log

It's not DOMS, I hurt the tendons in my elbows somehow. Only fractionally better today.

10/3/07, 5:20 am:

back squat
singles 135, 185, 205
225x5, 235x5, 245x5, 255x5, 225x5
Had intended to also do a set of 20 at 205, but lacked the mental toughness. Also planned to work on the yoke, but really didn't have enough time for it since I had to go to work.

Come hell or high water, I was going to do all my reps.

10/10/07:

Batman routine... (In the movie Batman Begins, at one point Bruce Wayne gets out of bed, immediately hits the floor and starts banging out pushups. So that's a Batman routine - next the the bed in the morning, the moment your feet touch down.

As many rounds as possible while my wife is in the shower of:
-10 squats
-10 pushups
-10 situps

5 rounds completed. Hopefully some oly lifting later.

10/11/07:

5:15 am

farmer's walk - 100 feet or so
137.5 lbs, 4 walks. All went well until the last one, when my grip was giving out on the left and I had to set the bars down twice.

yoke - 50 feet or so
455 lbs, 4 walks. All went well until the last one again, although DANG that feels heavy. It is just a little more than twice my bodyweight, though. Anyway, coming back up the slight hill into the garage the last time, the weight started swinging and I couldn't stabilize it. Set it down once.
