Re: The Road to Success - Hutch's Workout Log

Update:

Been sick the past few days, and since I have a race one week from today, I decided it would be best to rest and medicate rather than push myself in the cold and get even more sick. I did do Fran on Thursday, and a HSPU-Push up-Dip WOD on Wednesday, don't have the times for them at the moment. I may hit a WOD today as I'm feeling much, much better. Will get some mileage tomorrow.

Can't wait for the race next weekend!

Re: The Road to Success - Hutch's Workout Log

Monday, March 28th
Run: 12 Miles, 1 hr. 40 mins

Average Pace: 8:40/mile
Weather Conditions: Sunny, COLD!, Windy

Felt a lot better today after medicating and drinking close to 2 gallons of water to kick my weekend bug out of my system. The run felt pretty good, minus the final 25 minute run into the blowing wind. You'd think I'd take a different route after all these times of running into the frigid wind, right?

Anyway, today felt good, and I actually beat some of my splits today. I suspect it's because of the cabin fever I was feeling after this weekend, along with the fact I'm hyped up on Sudafed. More mileage is good mileage, nonetheless.

Re: The Road to Success - Hutch's Workout Log

Tuesday, March 29th
WOD:

75 x Squat
50 x Pull-Up
20 x Dip
50 x Squat
25 x Pull-Up
15 x Dip
25 x Squat
20 x Pull-Up
10 x Dip

11:02

The pull-ups on this *suck*, at least for me, because I do them hanging from a ceiling support beam in my basement, with a grip that makes it impossible to kip. Forearms were smoked after the 50 set of pull-ups, which murdered my time for the rest of the WOD. I'm going to either give in and go to a gym to do proper pull-ups, or get a bar myself.

Re: The Road to Success - Hutch's Workout Log

Sunday, April 3rd
Race: Spring Forward 15k

Time: 1 hr. 14 min. 48 sec.
Average Pace: 8:03/mile
Weather Conditions: Sunny, about 45 degrees. Perfect conditions.

Ran the first 5k in like 20 minutes, was feeling really good because until that point, the course was all downhill. But after that, there were several steep inclines that really taxed the legs, slowing me a little but I got through it. Feeling very good about this one. Wanted to finish in 75 minutes or less, nailed it in 74:48!

Next stop: Flower City Half-Marathon on May 1st.

Re: The Road to Success - Hutch's Workout Log

Oh, hello. It's been a few days. Here's my update from what I neglected to put down this week:

Monday:
Run: 5.3 miles, 44 min. 19 sec.

Average Pace: 8:45/mile
Weather Conditions: Sunny, 50s, slight breeze

Did this run because my legs and hips were sore as hell from running hills on Sunday. Felt a lot better after this run.

Tuesday:
WOD: "Elizabeth"

21x, 15x, 9x of:
135# Cleans
Dips

No time on this one. Was feeling super weak after the race and the run the day before. Did this more for strength and conditioning rather than time.

Wednesday:
Rest

Thursday, April 7th
WOD: "Fran"

21x, 15x, 9x of:
Thrusters @ 95#
Pull-Ups

3:45

Not my best time, nor my worst. Feeling pretty lousy after not doing a strength or WOD day in almost a week. Time to bounce back; will be getting that double digit mileage in tomorrow.

Re: The Road to Success - Hutch's Workout Log

So, wow! It's been over a month since I've done a reply to my log. Where has the time gone?

This past month was very busy and filled with events. Final exams, graduating from college, interviewing for my next big career step, and training for my half-marathon has consumed all my time. Although I have not made any updates, I have been going very strong with CrossFit and Running, and I'm glad to be back to the forum with an update.

Last Sunday, I ran the Flower City Half-Marathon (13.1 miles). I finished in 1 hr. 45 min. 40 sec., a new PR for me for that distance. I placed #19 in my age/gender group (20-24 yr. old category), and finished in the top 15% for the race. Very pleased with my results.

Anyway, glad to be back to the CF forums. Will be replying and updating again as usual.

P.S.: over 410 miles this year! Almost halfway to my 1000 mile/year goal.
