Substitute for KB Swing

I know I saw a thread or faq on this somewhere but I can" find it now. What is the substitute or how do you do it with DBs?

Re: Substitute for KB Swing

I stand the DB on end and hold it by wrapping my fingers around the weighted end with my palms flat against the end thats facing up. I have seen alot of people just hold it by the bar, but I think it loses some of the effect doing it that way.

Agreed,

I practice the "holding by bar" method however while at my big box gym, it seems to draw less attention.

good luck!

Re: Substitute for KB Swing

What's the closest sub to KB swings assuming you have neither KB's nor DB's?

Maybe try it with a 25# plate, that's a pretty good question though.

Hmmm... it might be easier to answer that if you tell us what other weights you have... plate sounds dangerous though... Maybe you do not have 70 lb DB, but maybe you have two dumbbells of 35 lb or close... you can swing both of them holding one in each hand outside of you legs...

Re: Substitute for KB Swing

If your gym has the hex plates with the slots, you can use those up to about 35#. Use the slot as a handle. Anything bigger than that would be very awkward to swing through your knees.
