Had a kind of frustrating day at the Hook Grip Classic at Liberty Barbell in Philadelphia. They put on a great event, I just didn't perform quite like I wanted to.

Snatch
100 (F), 100x1, 105 (F)

Just like last time timing of the warm ups was a little touch and go. Took two attempts at 40, 50, 60, and 70. Took a third attempt at 80 just because the bar had a little bit of extra time available. One at 90. Two at 95 because things bogged down a little and I just wanted to make sure.

Regardless I walked out on the platform feeling perfectly ready and promptly threw my opener behind me. Second attempt was good. Jumped backward on the last one and didn't bring the bar with me.

I need to stop jumping backwards when I snatch.

Clean and Jerk
130x1, 133 (F), 133x1

133 was a meet PR clean and jerk albeit a smaller one than I was looking for. Warm ups here were better time and volume wise since I had a better sense of how fast things were moving. Took lifts at 70, 90, 100, 110, 120, and 125 with no issues.

The miss at 133 set me to my butt which I was not very happy about.

Total: 233 KG (3/6)

Meet PR total by 3 KG, I have another meet in a little over a month so I have four weeks to train hard, and a week to taper before I lock myself in my garage while I'm coaching wrestling.

Snatch

Goal was to come in here and do the 98 for a double. Left the second one a little out front. Coming down to 90 was just a little bit of a mess.

Hands are still a little tender. The Eleiko that I warmed up on and the DHS that was on the platform were both very sharp.

Bench Press
45x10, 135x10, 195x5, 220x3, 245x6, 135x10, 135x10, 135x10, 135x10, 135x10

On the other hand was very happy with this. Did exactly what I was looking to do here.

Dips
5x10

After each of the BBB sets.

Midline
~4:00 of planks

Couple of rounds of plank competitions after the barbell club session tonight that I got in on.

Glass half full half empty here. On one hand I'm happy about the make at 132, on the other I really wanted to get the second clean on one of those attempts at 125. Both set to my butt.

1 1/4 Front Squat
20x10, 70x5, 90x3, 110x3, 120x3, 130x2, 140x1, 145x1, 150x1, 135x3, 135x3, 122x5

Going to be doing a lot of these in the run up to the next meet. Working up to a single and then down sets and lots of them.

Got to stay tighter in the bottom of cleans.

Pretty good day here. Took these reps from the knee. 101 was a PR from that level.

Snatch Pull, Snatch Pull, Hang Snatch
70x1, 80x1, 85x1

Just playing with this, felt good.

Hang Clean and Jerk
70x2, 90x1, 100x1, 110x1, 120x1, 126x1

Cut these here. Rep at 126 felt like it weighed about 800 lbs.

Shankle Complex
100x1, 108x1, 115x1

This felt good. 115 was a PR.

1 Arm Row
Lots of reps w/ 50 lbs

Just volume.

Lifted in pounds today for the first time in a while.

Goal today was definitely the two makes at 230 so I was happy to get there and do that. The three makes in a row on the second wave was a nice way to end things. The second make at 220 was the best a rep had felt since I was down at 135.

Put 245 on and then summarily clarked it before it even got to my knees.

Snatch Pull, Snatch
185x1, 185x1, 200 (F), 200x1, 205 (F)

Continuing to play around with this idea after experimenting some on Tuesday with it. While I struggle with the mechanics of just the pull if I start from the floor if I pick it up and lower it down to a hover it goes alright.

Clean and Jerk
135x3, 185x1, 205x1, 225x1, 245x1, 265x1, 280 (F Jerk), 280x1, 295x1, 305x1

Huge, big PR on the last one and that made me what had become my goal weight for the year. Could not believe I missed the jerk on the first 280, I hadn't missed just a regular jerk in over two months.

Midline
Barbell Sidebends, 3x20

Little differently than I have done these in the past. Kept the bar centered on my back and just did 20 reps total rather than focusing on just one side.

Possibly TMI, but major GI issues this morning. Still made good weight, but decided to ditch a few of the other things that were written into programming today.

First really heavy 5 here in a while, not a PR but made the goal for the day.

Push Press
45x10, 135x5, 185x3, 205x3, 220x3, 235x3, 225x3, 210x3

Surprised myself a little bit here. While 235 was the goal coming in I didn't really come in with a ton of confidence about making it given that I haven't been push pressing much.

4 lb PR for a triple.

Still having major issue with my stomach, so cut everything from programming save for snatch volume. Pretty good day all things considered though.

Everything up to the single at 100 was programmed. The stuff after I just did because I had some extra time. Missed twice on the programmed volume once on the second rep of the second set at 88 and once on the second rep at 94. Both time just stood there reset and then got the rep.

Happy and a little surprised that I hit the 100 first try. 105 was a clark.

Midline

Interspersed through out the barbell club session that I coach.

Wasn't mentally invested in this, was using straps from the floor when I shouldn't be since I suck at using straps from the floor.

Back Squat
20x10, 70x10, 110x5, 130x3, 145x3, 160x3, 170x3, 162x3, 154x3

Came in knowing that this may not be the greatest, given that I haven't been eating much due to my stomach issues but went alright. After the sets at 130 and 145 I started getting curious about a possible PR.

The 170 set changed that, brutally hard set.

4 kilo PR for any kind of hang snatch with no straps, even larger PR for going from this position without straps.

High Hang Clean and Jerk
60x2, 80x1, 90x1, 100x1, 107x1, 114x1, 118x1

Pretty sure this is a PR from the high hang here as well given that I don't do them very often. Maybe a kilo or two left in me but decided to quit while I was ahead.

Split Jerk
60x3, 80x1, 90x1, 100x1, 110x1, 120x1, 130x1, 137x1, 144 (F, F)

Given how sick I've been all week was pretty happy to go up to 300 with no misses. Let the 144 sit for too long.

Power Jerk
60x3, 90x1, 110x1, 118 (F), 118x1, 125x1, 132x1

Last one was a PR, and its a weight I've been on/off going after on this movement for over a year now. Happy
