Pleasant surprise at Sports Authority - Paleo!

So, I was getting a new jump-rope at Sports Authority. I also happened to be hungry (that's about normal for me). Went over to the snacks, just to see. Behold, I see Kar's snacks. Kar's has a package Marked "Raisin Almond Cashew Mix" - Unsalted. I was a little skeptical. I look at the ingredients. Raisins, Raw Cashews, Raw Almonds. No salt, no maltodextrin, no oils. Just good stuff.

Fun find for me.

Re: Pleasant surprise at Sports Authority - Paleo!

I just triple-checked Cordain. Cashews are on the list. The only "nut" forbidden is the Peanut. I've seen on other paleo sites where the cashew is not allowed, but Cordain doesn't say so.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Pleasant surprise at Sports Authority - Paleo!

I eat cashews all the time - I have simply heard over and over that cashews and peanuts are not 'nuts' therefore not allowed on the paleo diet.

I wasn't aware that Cordain was the last word on paleo - I was under the impression that the paleo diet was a diet modelled on our paleolithic ancestors and what they ate.

I was being glib. Enjoy your cashews, I know I willl, 'paleo' or not.

Ugh. I read this, reach into my desk drawer and pullout the unopened pound of cashews, realizing as I grab the scissors that I'm fasting for the next few hours. The fast was going so easily too.

Re: Pleasant surprise at Sports Authority - Paleo!

Cordian isn't the last word, but it's what I've been going by. I understand what you're saying, and actually, I'd probably do better if I left them out of my diet. They're like caveman Pringles. Once you pop..

I know you were being glib, (a word I haven't used often), I just wanted to make sure I wasn't messing myself over. I really want to reach my goals. I'm pretty darn strict on my diet. The only thing I really haven't given up 100% is cheese, and that's just in my eggs. Funny how much less cheese you eat when it's not paired with bread and lunchmeat

Re: Pleasant surprise at Sports Authority - Paleo!

I just bought the same thing at Trader Joes, in Eugne, Oregon. They came pre packaged into small bags.
