You won't believe this...

I am watching CNN right now as I'm typing this. I swear to you all the main information window (where they kind of summarize the topic) says this:

CAN EXERCISE MAKE YOU FAT?
What if fat doesn't make you fat? What if exercise does? What if carbs make you sick?

"CAN EXERCISE MAKE YOU FAT?" ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME?!

It's apparently a debate on diets and such and some scientist said that "exercise makes you fat". I may be missing something that could perhaps make this statement relevant (the Tooth Fairy taught me to keep an open-mind and keep my mouth closed when practicing martial arts).

I see this going straight to Pukie's Bucket, but I couldn't post there.

Gary Taubes, who normally writes good stuff.

I think the argument is that exercise is no guarantee to keep the weight off. Also:
Quote:
The one thing that might be said about exercise with certainty is that it tends to make us hungry. Maybe not immediately, but eventually.
What I find ironic is that he uses the word "certainty" right next to the words "might" and "Maybe." Normally a good writer isn't so wishy-washy.

I'd tend to agree with him to a point. Seriously... If all the exercise you do is long extremely light exercise for super long periods of time, you're training your body to use energy sparingly so it doesn't run out. And if this training sticks around after you discontinue exercise, you're going to pile on the pounds.
